Ambit Systems builds governance infrastructure for autonomous systems.

Who We Are

The company was founded by Art Harol after more than 20 years building AI and machine learning systems, including five years applying adversarial ML to cybersecurity. The work began after repeated exposure to a structural failure: governance controls collapsing under conditions they were never designed to survive.

The conclusion was straightforward. When software begins to act autonomously, governance cannot remain a policy document beside the system it claims to control. It must become infrastructure — deterministic, evidence-producing, and constitutional.

That principle defines how Ambit operates. The company is intentionally small, favouring depth over scale. The goal is to produce governance infrastructure that is difficult to bypass, easy to explain, and defensible under scrutiny. If a control cannot hold when the stakes rise, it does not ship. The standard is durability, not velocity.

Ambit Systems is headquartered in Sydney, Australia.

Why We Exist

Autonomous systems are beginning to take consequential actions — not advise, but act — in production. Agent runtimes are maturing to execute these actions at scale, but the liability remains with the organisation. Existing controls govern identity and risk; runtimes handle execution and orchestration; but nothing records per-action authority at the action boundary. We built Ambit Authority to record whether a specific action was authorised at the moment it occurred, and Ambit Observatory to make that evidence inspectable after the fact.

How We Work

Ambit Systems is a boutique firm. We work with a small cohort of design partners to validate the decision path and evidence model in real governance scenarios. This is a Design Partner Evaluation with qualification criteria and decision gates — not a volume sales funnel.

We work directly with engineering and governance teams during scoped engagements. Ambit Systems products operate on an Annual Subscription model — not per-token, not per-seat, not micro-metered.
